I am seriously obsessed with this band’s music lately. I had never heard of them before but had seen a lot of people (from the internet) talking about their new EP, Don’t Lose Your Cool. Downloading it was one of the best choices I ever made! (download it yourself, it’s free!) Every time I listen to it, I want to listen to it again. It’s extremely catchy but in the best way. Vocals are amazing. Um, I’ve seen it compared to Jimmy Eat World's Bleed American and Weezer's Blue Album. To me, it sounds a little more like a catchier Hey Mercedes. Either way, you should definitely download this!
Random Start: The Gaslight Anthem - Great Expectations
Yesterday I woke up with a song in my head and it was a Modest Mouse song but I couldn’t remember what it was called plus I was busy babysitting… like, all day. However, for some “random” and wonderful reason this morning I had these lyrics from Great Expectations stuck in my head:
"And they burnt up the diner where I always used to find her Licking young boys’ blood from her claws”
Needless to say, I listened to this entire album already today because it’s perfect.
I wake up pretty much everyday with a song stuck in my head (sometimes two). I’ve decided that I’m going to do my own variation of the “random start” and share what song it is. This morning’s song is from Acceptance’s (unfortunately) only full-length album, Phantoms. I would absolutely consider it one of my favorites from start to finish. If you haven’t already, definitely check this album out. I’ve been jamming to it in my car this last week and I still love it just as much as ever.
“There are few feelings as amazing as when an album just clicks, when you’re sitting in your car or at your desk (or wherever you listen to music) and you just feel it wash over you, like “Fuuuuuu-this is incredible.” And if there’s a moral to this story, I guess it’s that just because an album doesn’t sound or feel just like you’d hoped it would, that doesn’t mean it never will.”—Riley Breckenridge on Young Widow’s ‘In and Out of Youth and Lightness’ (
